I almost threw this bottle in the trash after one use in July. It sat on my skin like a layer of warm honey — and not the cute kind.
The problem isn’t the serum. It’s that you’re probably slapping it on like a moisturizer. In 80% humidity, that’s a one-way ticket to pore-clog city.
It’s a lightweight, salicylic-acid-based serum from Papa Recipe. Costs about $22. The claim? Fade dark spots + calm breakouts without stripping your face off. I bought it because I have post-acne marks that look like a connect-the-dots puzzle.
Watery gel texture
Slides on like nothing — until it doesn’t. Humidity makes it tacky within 30 seconds.
Low pH formula
Sits around 5.5. Gentle enough for AM use, but don’t layer it under sunscreen without waiting 2 full minutes.
No fragrance
Smells like… nothing. Refreshingly boring for once.

Four ingredients do the heavy lifting. The rest is just water and preservatives — and that’s fine. Here’s what matters:
- Salicylic Acid (0.5%): Gently exfoliates without the burn — think gentle push instead of harsh scrub
- Niacinamide (2%): Fades spots slowly, like a tortoise winning the race
- Centella Asiatica Extract: Calms redness so you don’t look like you just ran a marathon
- Panthenol: Locks moisture in without feeling greasy — rare for a blemish product

First pump: watery, almost like toner. Spreads in 2 seconds. Then — if you’re in Singapore or Florida — it starts to cling. Not tacky like glue, but like a thin film that catches dust.
Week 3 hit different. I started using only 2 drops on damp skin. Pat, don’t rub. Let it sit for 90 seconds before anything else. No more sticky face. My spots faded by maybe 30% — nothing miraculous, but noticeable.

After 4 weeks: 2 old acne marks completely gone. 3 others faded by half. New breakouts still happened — just smaller and less angry. Texture improved about 20%. Not a miracle worker, but consistent.
It works — but only if you respect the humidity. Use it wrong, you’ll hate it. Use it right, and it’s a solid everyday blemish serum that won’t wreck your barrier.
