You’ve seen it. That little squishy tube, all over your feed. Hailey Bieber’s Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment—the one that promises a “glazed donut” mouth.
But here’s the thing nobody tells you: it’s basically expensive Vaseline. The real test? Whether it actually fixes dry lips or just makes them look shiny for 20 minutes.
$16 for 10ml. That’s $1.60 per ml—more than most lip balms, less than a department store gloss. The claim: peptides + shea butter = hydrated, plump lips.
Peptide Complex
Three amino acids meant to boost collagen. Sounds fancy, but you need months to see that—this is a gloss, not Botox.
Shea + Cupuaçu Butters
Thick. Greasy. Stays put for about 2 hours before you need to reapply.
Scented Oils
Vanilla or watermelon. Smells great, but if you’re sensitive, skip—it can tingle.

It’s a solid formula, not revolutionary. The peptides are the star, but they’re diluted by the thick butter base. You’re mostly getting occlusives—stuff that seals moisture in, not adds it.
- Peptides: Signal skin to firm up, but low concentration
- Shea Butter: Locks in moisture, feels heavy
- Cupuaçu Butter: Similar to shea, but pricier
- Fragrance: Fun, but can irritate cracked lips

First swipe? Thick. Like melted candle wax. It sits on top of your lips—doesn’t sink in. Shiny, but sticky. Your hair will stick to it on a windy day. That’s the trade-off for that “wet” look.
After two weeks of daily use: my lips weren’t dry, but they weren’t transformed either. The peppermint flavor (I got the unscented) fades fast. Weirdest part? It pills if you layer it over another balm. Annoying.

After a month, my lips were softer. But not plumper. Not dramatically different. It’s a solid gloss, not a miracle cure.

It’s a cute lip gloss that hydrates okay. Not life-changing, not a scam. If you want the Hailey look, buy it. If you want results, save your $16.
