January skin is a crime scene — pale, blotchy, and tragically reflective. This mist is the accomplice you need.
It’s a dry oil that sprays on like a fancy setting spray, not a sticky lotion you have to rub in circles like a maniac. Two passes and you look like you just got back from somewhere that isn’t your couch.
Coola calls this a “Sunless Tan Dry Oil Mist” — it’s $46 and promises a “gradual, buildable glow” that won’t transfer to your white sheets. I called it a miracle or a lie. Turns out, it’s mostly the former.
The Spray Mechanism
It’s a fine, even mist — no giant droplets that leave you with leopard spots on your knees.
The Dry Oil Formula
It sinks in before you finish pulling your shirt back on. No tacky residue for 20 minutes while you wait to get dressed.
The Scent Control
Smells like a mild cucumber melon, not that weird “tanning” smell that makes you feel like a waffle cone.

The hero here is DHA (dihydroxyacetone) — the standard tanning agent — but they’ve paired it with a bunch of plant junk that actually does something. It’s less “chemical burn” and more “botanical glow.”
- DHA: The color developer — reacts with skin’s amino acids for that golden tint
- Coconut-derived surfactants: Keeps the mist from feeling greasy
- Cucumber Fruit Water: Calms the skin and masks the DHA smell
- Aloe Vera: Prevents that tight, parched feeling you get with other tanners

The mist is cold on contact — a shock at first — but it evaporates into a velvety finish that feels like you just put on a high-end body oil. No stickiness. No squeaky clean feeling. Just soft, slightly hydrated skin.
By week two, the real surprise: it doesn’t cling to my dry elbows or crusty ankles like every other tanner I’ve tried. Those areas are usually darker and patchy. This stayed even. I’m genuinely annoyed about how good it is.

My legs went from “winter white” to “I slept in a tanning bed” (in a good way) after two applications. It faded evenly over five days, no weird patches before my next shower. I didn’t suddenly look like a bronzed goddess, but I stopped looking like a ghost in my Pilates class.

This is the easiest fake tan I’ve ever used, and I’ve used them all. It’s the difference between “doing the most” and just looking alive.
