So DHC went and changed the formula. No press tour, no fanfare — just a slightly different bottle on the shelf.
I’ve used this oil for eight years. It melted my waterproof mascara like butter. The new version? It still works, but it *feels* different — and that difference is throwing me off.
Still $28 for 6.7 oz. Still olive oil-based. But the texture got thinner — almost watery compared to the old thick, slippery glide.
Runny Consistency
Pours out faster than before — you’ll waste a pump if you’re not paying attention.
Rinsing Speed
Washes off quicker, no greasy film left behind. That part is genuinely better.
Scent Shift
The olive oil smell is fainter. Less salad dressing, more neutral — which I actually prefer.

They swapped some emulsifiers and added a touch of rosemary leaf extract. The hero ingredient — olive oil — is still front and center, but it’s lighter now.
- Olive Oil: Still the MVP for dissolving sebum
- Rosemary Leaf Extract: New addition, helps stabilize the oil
- Vitamin E: Keeps it from going rancid quickly
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride: The reason it feels less heavy

It’s slick, not thick. Rubs in fast, breaks down makeup in 15 seconds. My skin feels clean but not stripped — that tight, squeaky feeling is gone. Good sign.
Two weeks in, no breakouts. But here’s the weird part — it doesn’t give that satisfying “massage glide” the old one did. My face feels less pampered, more just… clean.

My blackheads are less noticeable — the new emulsifiers seem to rinse out pores better. But the sensory ritual is gone, and that matters more than I expected.

It’s a functional upgrade with a sensory downgrade. I’m keeping it — but I’m not thrilled about it.
