You’re probably holding this spray a foot from your face and dousing yourself like it’s Evian at a music festival. That’s the mistake.
This acid works best when it’s basically invisible. Too much liquid = your skin barrier gets overwhelmed, and the redness you’re trying to kill actually gets worse.
Prequel calls it a Gleanser spray but it’s really just hypochlorous acid — the same thing your white blood cells make to fight bacteria. It’s $22 for 4 oz and it’s the only thing I’ve found that stops my face from doing that hot, itchy thing after a bad night’s sleep.
The nozzle
It’s a fine, tight mist — not a wet spray. That’s rare.
The pH balance
Sits at 5.5, so it doesn’t strip your acid mantle like other “clarifying” sprays.
The shelf life
Unopened it lasts 2 years. Once opened, it’s 6 months max — I wrote the date on the bottle with sharpie.

The ingredient list is embarrassingly short — that’s the point. There’s no fragrance, no alcohol, no botanical extracts that pretend to do something. Just the active molecule and water that’s been electrolyzed.
- Hypochlorous Acid (0.02%): Kills the bacteria that triggers acne and rosacea flares
- Electrolyzed Water: The delivery system that stabilizes the acid
- Sodium Chloride: Keeps the pH balanced so it doesn’t sting
- Nothing else: Literally. That’s the whole ingredient list

It feels like fancy water. Zero tackiness, zero residue — it absorbs in about 8 seconds flat. The first week I honestly didn’t notice anything. Then around day 9, the little red bumps on my chin just… stopped being angry.
What surprised me: I stopped needing moisturizer as often. My skin wasn’t as dehydrated because it wasn’t spending all night fighting inflammation.

After 3 weeks: my maskne is gone, the redness around my nose is down about 60%, and my skin texture is smoother. What it didn’t do: touch my hormonal chin acne. That still needs salicylic acid.

It’s the first spray that actually calms my skin instead of just feeling like it’s doing something. Keep it in your gym bag, not your skincare shelf.
