January made me look like a vampire who also maybe owed someone money. Pale, dull, zero life.
So I sprayed Coola‘s face mist on my bare winter face and prayed to the tanning gods. Spoiler: I didn’t end up looking like a Cheeto.
It’s $42 for 1.7 oz. The claim: a buildable, anti-aging tan that won’t break you out or smell like old pretzels.
360-Degree Spray
The nozzle is fine enough that it hits your face like a fancy facial mist, not a fire extinguisher.
Clear Formula
No bronzer guide color. You can’t see where you sprayed, which is terrifying and liberating.
Anti-Aging Add-Ons
It’s basically skincare that also lies about your skin tone.

It’s packed with organic aloe and cucumber so it hydrates while it tans. The DHA is plant-derived — no weird animal stuff.
Smells like cucumber water, not that stale biscuit scent most tans have. Huge win.
- Aloe Leaf Juice: Calms redness and keeps the tan from clinging to dry patches
- Cucumber Extract: Cooling, smells expensive, makes you feel fancy
- DHA: The actual tanning agent — derived from sugar beets
- Hyaluronic Acid: Plumps skin so the color sits smooth, not patchy

First spray felt like water. Absorbed in about 15 seconds — no greasy film. My face felt like I’d just used a nice toner.
By day 3, I looked like I’d come back from a ski trip — not a tanning bed. By day 7, I realized my pores looked smaller. The tan wasn’t masking texture; the hyaluronic acid was actually doing work.

My skin looked warmer and more rested. It didn’t cover my dark circles — nothing does — but it took the deathly edge off. No breakouts, which shocked me.

It’s the only self-tanner I’ve used that doesn’t make my sensitive skin scream. I’ll be spraying this all winter.
