Act + Acre’s whole pitch is that heat destroys actives, so they cold-press everything like it’s a $12 green juice. Cute marketing — but does the science actually hold up?
Here’s the thing nobody’s talking about: heat isn’t the enemy. Oxygen and water are what degrade most skincare ingredients. Cold processing is a nice flex, but it’s not the clean-tech savior they’re selling.
It’s a $98 serum that claims to “restore scalp and hair health” using stem cells from French apples. I bought it because I’m a sucker for anything that sounds like a farmers market crossed with a lab.
Cold Processed
They never heat above 37°C — basically body temp. Keeps enzymes intact, sure.
Stem Cell Extract
Apple stem cells, not human. They’re antioxidants, not regenerative magic.
Scalp-First Approach
It’s designed to massage into your roots, not just lengths. That’s actually smart.

It’s mostly water, glycerin, and a bunch of plant extracts. The “cold processed” claim really just means they’re preserving the scent and color of the botanicals — not some revolutionary potency.
- Apple Stem Cell Extract: Antioxidant that may protect follicles from stress
- Hyaluronic Acid: Hydrates the scalp, which can help with flakiness
- Caffeine: Stimulates blood flow to roots — this one’s actually backed by research
- Pea Peptide: Strengthens hair fibers, but it’s low on the ingredient list

It’s watery — like a light toner, not a serum. Absorbs into the scalp in about 20 seconds, zero greasy residue. I actually forgot I had it on, which is rare for hair products.
Week two: my scalp stopped itching. That was real. But my hair didn’t magically thicken. The smell is weirdly herbal — like a tea bag that’s been steeping too long.

My scalp flakiness dropped by like 70% in three weeks. My hair? Same as before. It’s a scalp health product, not a hair growth serum — don’t confuse the two.

Is it clean? Yes. Is it groundbreaking? Not even close. It’s a good scalp-soothing serum wearing a lab coat.
