I threw my vitamin C in a drawer on March 1st and swapped in this Mary&May serum instead. My skin didn’t throw a tantrum — it actually got quieter.
My post-acne marks usually take 4 months to fade. One of the darker ones on my cheek is now visibly lighter at week three, and that never happens for me.
It’s a 5% Idebenone (the fancy cousin of CoQ10) plus blackberry complex. Retails around $18-20 for 30ml. The claim is “anti-oxidant powerhouse” — I tried it because I’m tired of vitamin C turning orange in my cabinet.
5% Idebenone
Stronger than ubiquinone at lower doses, and it doesn’t oxidize into a mess.
Blackberry Complex
Sounds gimmicky, but it’s a natural tyrosinase inhibitor — that’s the enzyme that makes pigment.
No Niacinamide
Actually refreshing. My skin gets red with too much niacinamide, and this formula skips it entirely.

The texture is a milky, watery gel that disappears so fast I thought I forgot to apply it. Here’s what’s actually doing the work:
- Idebenone: The antioxidant that neutralizes UV damage before it turns into pigment
- Blackberry Extract: Fades existing dark spots without bleaching the surrounding skin
- Hyaluronic Acid: Keeps the formula hydrating so it doesn’t sting on dry patches
- Tocopherol: Vitamin E that stabilizes the idebenone and calms redness

It’s like a thin essence that absorbs in about 12 seconds. No sticky film, no pilling under sunscreen. I actually look forward to it in the morning.
Week 2 was the surprise — my skin looked *bouncier*, not just brighter. That’s the part no antioxidant serum ever promises.

The two dark spots on my right cheek are 40% lighter. My forehead sun spot hasn’t budged — that one’s 10 years old, so I’m not blaming the serum. No breakouts, no irritation, and my skin tone is evening out in a way that makes me skip foundation.

Vitamin C and I are on a break. This serum does what my old one promised but never delivered — and it doesn’t smell like hot dog water.
