Plodica went and reformulated the Re:wake cream. I’ve been using the old version for two years and honestly felt a little betrayed when I found out.
But after three weeks with the new one? I’m not mad. I’m just confused about why they bothered changing the texture when the old one was already perfect for winter.
It’s still a $48 moisturizer, but the texture is *completely* different. The brand claims it now targets “skin fatigue” — whatever that marketing-speak means, I’m here for the results.
New Gel-Cream Base
It’s lighter than before — sinks in about 15 seconds instead of the old 30.
No More Pilling
The old formula would ball up under sunscreen. This one doesn’t. Thank god.
Different Scent
They got rid of that weird herbal smell. Now it just smells like… nothing. Which is honestly better.

They swapped out the heavy shea butter for something lighter — and added a peptide complex that actually feels like it does something. The ingredient list is shorter, which is usually a good sign.
- Peptide Complex: firms without that tight, weird feeling
- Squalane: the lightweight hydration hero here
- Panthenol: calms redness way faster than before
- Beta-Glucan: gives that bouncy, hydrated look

It’s now a whippy gel-cream that feels like cold foam on the skin. First application I did a double-take — it’s THAT different from the old butter-like balm.
Week two hit and my skin started feeling bouncier. But it also wasn’t enough moisture on its own — I had to layer a serum underneath, which I never did with the old one.

My redness is down about 40% and my skin looks plumper mid-day. But the “8-hour hydration” claim? That’s a lie — I needed to reapply by hour five.
It’s a different product wearing the same name — but honestly, it’s a better one for most people. Just not for my dry winter skin.
