Okay so the internet has been screaming about this Jelly Biome cleanser for dry skin and I finally caved after my 47th “why does my face feel like a saltine” winter.
The whole pitch is that it uses fermented yeast to feed your skin’s microbiome instead of stripping it like every other foaming cleanser on the planet. That sounded like marketing fluff until I actually used it.
It’s $28 for 150ml of thick, clear-ish jelly that smells vaguely like a fancy sourdough starter — not a bad thing, honestly. The claim that sold me: “cleanses without disrupting the acid mantle.” Bold words for a face wash.
Fermented Yeast Complex
It’s literally alive — feeds the good bacteria on your face like a tiny probiotic farm
No Foam Technology
Zero suds, zero squeaky-clean feeling — your face stays slick and hydrated after rinsing
Jelly-Lock Texture
It clings to your skin instead of dripping down your elbows like most gel washes

Look, I’m not a cosmetic chemist, but I’ve read enough INCI lists to know when a product is actually trying. This one has some heavy hitters that make my dry patches nervous in a good way.
- Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate: The yeast extract that feeds your skin’s natural bacteria
- Panthenol (B5): Soothes that tight, post-wash feeling immediately
- Squalane: Mimics your skin’s own oils so it absorbs instead of sitting on top
- Ceramide NP: Rebuilds the barrier your old cleanser wrecked

First pump — it’s like liquid silk that turned into a slightly bouncy jelly on contact. No lather, which freaked me out for a second. I kept waiting for that “clean” feeling and it never came. That’s the point, apparently.
Week two hit and something weird happened — my chin flakes stopped flaking. Like, completely. And my face wasn’t tight 30 seconds after washing. I actually forgot to moisturize one night and didn’t wake up looking like a raisin. Shocking behavior from a cleanser.

My barrier feels beefy now — the redness around my nose calmed down and my makeup sits better because there’s no dry patches for it to cling to. But my “glass skin” dreams? Still just dreams. This won’t fix dehydration alone.

This is the rare cleanser that’s actually worth the hype if you’re in the dry/damaged club. Just don’t expect miracles — it’s a cleanser, not a face transplant.
