You’re slathering it on twice a day — but could your all-in-one moisturizer actually be sabotaging your skin’s AM/PM rhythm with actives that fight each other? That’s the question I had with Axis-Y Arti-Shield Morning Night Cream.
The real problem: one cream claiming to do both jobs usually ends up doing neither well. This one packs niacinamide (great AM) but also squalane (better PM) — so who wins?
It’s a $22 moisturizer that claims to “protect and repair” in one jar. I bought it because I’m lazy and wanted one step, not seven.
Double-duty formula
Light enough for AM, rich enough for PM — but not both at once.
Artichoke extract
Sounds fancy, actually works as a gentle antioxidant.
50ml tube
Lasts about 6 weeks with twice-daily use. Not bad.
Hero ingredients are niacinamide (4% — brightening without sting) and squalane (hydrating but not greasy). The artichoke leaf extract is the wildcard — calming, but not a heavy hitter.
- Niacinamide: evens tone, no irritation
- Squalane: moisture without clogging
- Artichoke leaf: antioxidant, light
- Aloe vera: soothing base
Comes out like a light gel-cream. Absorbs in 12 seconds — no joke. Smells like nothing, which I prefer over fake “clean” scents.
Week 2: I noticed my AM skin looked less puffy, but PM hydration faded by morning. Not a total loss — just not a total win.
Texture improved slightly — less rough patches. But dark circles? Same. Pores? Same. It’s maintenance, not magic.
It’s fine for mornings. But don’t believe the “morning night” hype — your skin knows the difference. Save it for daylight.
