Your winter moisturizer is not enough. It never was. But here’s the thing — you’re not going to wear a separate SPF over it because that’s how you get that weird chalky mustache situation.
So I tested Coola‘s Sun Drops SPF 30 by mixing it into my heavy January cream. Zero pilling. Zero white cast. It disappeared like it was never there.
It’s a tinted serum — $42 — that you drop into your moisturizer (or wear alone, but why would you in February). The claim that got me: “invisible finish.” I rolled my eyes, then bought it anyway.
Pipette dropper
Actually precise — you need 3 drops for your whole face, not a glob
Tinted formula
A peachy tint that fixes that dead-winter pallor instantly
No fragrance
Smells like nothing. Not “clean” essential oils. Actually nothing.

This is where it gets smart. Instead of zinc that sits on top and flakes off, it uses chemical filters that actually absorb. And the extras? They’re not just marketing filler — they do work.
- Plankton extract: gives you that glass-skin glow without glitter
- Hyaluronic acid: holds water so your moisturizer works harder
- Coconut-derived surfactants: keeps it from pilling under makeup
- Avobenzone: the real SPF workhorse that doesn’t turn chalky

It’s watery-thin. Like a fancy face oil but lighter. Absorbs in about 10 seconds — I timed it because I was bored. No greasy film, no “dewy” slick that makes you look sweaty.
Week two: I stopped wearing tinted moisturizer entirely. This color-corrected better than my actual makeup. That was not planned.

My skin looked more even — the redness around my nose genuinely faded. It didn’t break me out, and I have skin that punishes new products within 24 hours. Dry patches? Still there, but not worse. That’s a win in Canadian winter.

This is the only SPF I’ve ever finished a bottle of. That says everything.
