My friend who works backstage at Fashion Week texted me a photo of her makeup bag. Two things in it: a Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter and this e.l.f. Cosmetics Halo Glow Liquid Filter. She said “guess which one costs $48.”
The real flex? I couldn’t tell the difference on her skin. Not even zoomed in.
It’s a liquid highlighter-slash-base. Think of it as a “skin perfector” that’s thinner than foundation but thicker than a gloss. $14. The claim that got me: “glass skin in a tube.” I call BS on most claims. But this one?
The Finish
Not glittery. Not wet-looking. Just… lit from within. Like you slept 10 hours (which you didn’t).
The Shade Range
8 shades. That’s not huge, but the undertones actually match humans — no orange or ashy nonsense.
The Sponge Tip
I hate doe-foot applicators. This one is a soft, angled sponge that doesn’t suck up product. Actual innovation.

It’s packed with skincare ingredients that do something, not just fill space. The texture is lightweight — almost watery — but it dries down to a soft, luminous finish in about 45 seconds. No tackiness.
- Squalane: Hydrates without grease, it’s basically your skin’s favorite oil
- Hyaluronic Acid: Plumps fine lines instantly, not just a buzzword
- Vitamin E: Antioxidant that keeps the glow from oxidizing into a mess
- Mica: Actually reflective particles (not plastic glitter)

First pump: it’s runny, almost too thin. I thought I wasted $14. But it melts into skin like a moisturizer. No separation, no patchiness. Feels like nothing — which is the goal.
Week 2 surprise: I used it under matte foundation and my makeup didn’t slide off by noon. That never happens. Also — it photographs beautifully. No flashback.

After 3 weeks: my skin looks more even when I wear it alone. Pores aren’t clogged. No breakouts. The glow fades after 6 hours, but it doesn’t turn orange or settle into lines.

It’s not a dupe — it’s just as good for most people. The luxury one has a slightly creamier texture, but for $34 less? You’re not losing anything real.
