The internet is in shambles because Lanolips swapped the OG 101 Ointment formula. The texture is different, and the old guard is not taking it quietly.
The new version dropped the heavy lanolin smell and feels less like petroleum jelly on the lips. But it also lost that “armor plating” thickness that made the original a winter survival tool.
It’s still a multi-balm in a tube, but now it’s $18 and marketed as “ultra-light.” The brand claims it sinks in faster, which is true — but it also means you reapply twice as often.

It’s whipped and fluffy, not dense and sticky like the old one.

The sheep-ish musk is gone. Now it smells like faint vanilla and nothing.
