I bought it because the name sounds like something you’d pour on pancakes, not your face. And honestly? I was ready to hate it.
The claim is that maple sap “shrinks” oil glands. That’s physiologically impossible — but here’s the thing: it doesn’t need to. It just needs to make my face look less like a glazed donut by 2pm.
It’s a watery toner — $38 for 150ml. The marketing says it’s “97.8% maple sap” and promises to balance oily skin. I rolled my eyes so hard they nearly stuck.
The texture
It’s basically water. Thin, slippery, zero stickiness — absorbs in about 8 seconds flat.
The application
Splash it on with your hands or soak a cotton pad. Hands work better — less product wasted.
The scent
Smells like a forest after rain. No fake floral nonsense. I’m into it.

Maple sap is the star, but it’s not doing what they claim. It’s a humectant — it pulls water into your skin, not shrinks your oil glands. The rest of the lineup is surprisingly clean.
- Acer saccharum (maple) sap: Hydrates without heaviness — the opposite of what you’d expect for oily skin
- Alcohol: None. Zero. That’s rare in this category
- Betaine salicylate: A gentler BHA that actually unclogs pores — this is the real oil tamer
- Centella asiatica: Calms the redness that comes with over-producing sebum

First splash: cold, watery, slightly meh. I almost wrote it off. But it dried down to absolutely nothing — no film, no sticky residue, just… nothing. My face felt clean, not tight.
By week two, the surprise: my midday shine was delayed by about 3 hours. Not gone, just later. And the texture of my skin — smoother, like the pores were less… angry. The one thing nobody mentions? It stings if you get it in your eyes. Avoid that.

Oil production didn’t stop — that’s a myth. But the *appearance* of oil? Way better. My T-zone looked fresh for 5-6 hours instead of 2-3. Pores look smaller because they’re cleaner, not because they physically shrank.

It’s not magic — it’s just a really well-formulated hydrator that doesn’t clog you up. For oily skin, that’s rarer than you’d think.
