Opened a new bottle of my standby serum. Something was off immediately.
The scent hit me first — a sharper, almost floral-chemical note instead of the old, barely-there one. Not a good start.
The Olay Regenerist serum. Around $30. It was the affordable peptide hit that just worked.

They definitely tinkered. The core actives are still there, but the supporting cast changed. The texture shift is a dead giveaway — it’s about the thickeners.
- Niacinamide: Fades dark spots, calms redness
- Peptides: Signal skin to produce collagen
- Hyaluronic Acid: Binds water to skin
- Panthenol: A humectant that soothes

Old version: silky, absorbed in 15 seconds. New version: slightly gel-like, leaves a faint tackiness for a minute. It’s not heavy, just… different.
After two weeks, my skin was hydrated. But that initial velvety finish I loved? Gone. It now plays nicer under sunscreen, though — less pilling.

Hydration and smoothing are still solid. The firming effect feels the same — subtle but there. The magic is in the sensory experience, and they altered it.

A competent reformulation that gets the job done, but lost its signature charm. It’s like they replaced your favorite cashmere sweater with a good-quality cotton one.
