Reddit is blowing up. People are washing their faces and coming out looking like tomatoes. The new batch of the Peach Snails wash is leaving skin angry — and not in a “it’s working” way.
The old version was a cult fave for good reason. The new one? It’s stripping. And not in a satisfying, clean-skin way. More like a chemical peel gone wrong way.
It’s a $9 foaming face wash from Peach Slices — the drugstore brand that usually nails gentle acne care. It claims to “bust blemishes” without destroying your moisture barrier. Bold claim.
Snail Mucin (the hero)
That slimy goo is supposed to calm and repair. It’s why people bought this.
Salicylic Acid (the buster)
0.5% — low enough for daily use. Or it was.
The New Foam
This is where it gets ugly. The lather is now sudsier, more detergent-like. That’s the red flag.

Peach Slices hasn’t confirmed a reformulation. But the ingredient list tells a different story. The new version feels harsher because it likely swapped a gentle surfactant for something cheaper and more stripping.
- Snail Secretion Filtrate: Still there. Still calming. Still the reason to buy.
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (new?): If this is in there, that’s your redness culprit.
- Salicylic Acid: Same percentage. But harsher base = more irritation.
- Aloe Vera: Probably not enough to save you now.

Pumps out as a thick, pearly gel. The old one felt silky. This one feels slick — almost waxy — before water hits it. Then it foams like a bar soap. That’s the first sign something’s off.
Week 2. My chin is peeling. Not a good peel — the kind where makeup clings to dry patches. My nose isn’t oily anymore… because it’s dehydrated. Not a win.

Old version: calm skin, fewer breakouts, no drama. New version: red skin, tight feeling, and breakouts that look *angrier* than before. The snail mucin can’t outrun the detergent.

Peach Slices messed with a good thing. If you find an old bottle on a drugstore shelf, grab it. The new one? Hard pass from me.
