R.E.M. Beauty Concealer: Does It Beat High-End?

Celebrity Check
Ariana Grande’s concealer claims 16-hour wear—but does it survive a 9-to-5 real-world test?
Expert Analysis · Honest Reviews · Real Results
1.💄Okay, I Caved

Fine, I bought the R.E.M. Beauty Sweetener Concealer because my FYP wouldn’t shut up about it. Ari said 16 hours. I call bullshit on most claims, but I needed to know if this was just another celebrity cash grab.

The packaging is heavy glass—feels expensive, but it’s a fingerprint magnet. That’s not the tea though. The tea is that the doe-foot applicator is gigantic. Like, comically huge. You will use too much product on day one. Guaranteed.

2.🔍The Specs & The Hype

It’s $26. That’s squarely in Sephora territory but under the luxury tax. The claim is “16-hour wear” with a “soft-matte” finish. I slapped it on at 7:45 AM on a Tuesday without primer just to test it.

1

The Wand

Bigger than my pinky. Covers a lot of surface area fast, but precision is a no-go.

2

The Pigment

One swipe on a dark spot? Gone. It’s buildable without turning cakey, which is rare.

3

The Shade Range

32 shades. The undertones actually make sense, which is more than I can say for some luxury lines.

3.🧪Inside The Tube

It’s not just pigment and silicone. There’s actually skincare in here that does something. I wore this through a crying session (don’t ask) and it didn’t break apart—just got dewy.

  • Squalane: Keeps it from drying out your undereyes
  • Vitamin E: Stops the creasing before it starts
  • Hyaluronic Acid: Plumps fine lines so it doesn’t settle
  • Glycerin: The glue that holds it to your face for 16 hours

4.💧Texture Check

It’s thick. Like, frosting thick. But the second it hits skin, it melts into a blurry, skin-like veil. It doesn’t dry down fully matte—it stays slightly tacky, which is why it doesn’t crease. Smart.

Week two update: I stopped using primer and it still held up. But I did notice it clings to dry patches if you skip moisturizer. Don’t skip moisturizer. The formula is unforgiving if your skin prep is lazy.

💡

One Thing: Press it in with your ring finger instead of rubbing. The heat activates the squalane and it melts into the skin like butter. Rubbing just pushes it into lines.

5.The 9-To-5 Report

At hour 8, my undereyes looked… fine. Not perfect, but fine. The dark circles stayed covered, the creases were minimal, and it didn’t oxidize orange on my pale-ass skin. At hour 12, it started to fade gracefully instead of cracking.

Buy if
You have normal-to-dry skin and want a full-coverage concealer that doesn’t need touch-ups before happy hour.

Skip if
You’re oily. This will slide off your face by noon. You need a powder with this, guaranteed.
💰

Worth it?
For $26, it beats the $40 luxury ones. It doesn’t beat the $15 drugstore ones, but it’s close.

6.💰Final Call

It’s a solid B+. Not the second coming of Christ, but a genuinely good concealer that respects your time. Ari actually cooked.

8.2/10
Surprisingly solid, not a gimmick

Where to Buy: Sephora or Ulta. Grab the mini if they have it—the big tube lasts forever and you’ll get bored.
