I slapped a thin layer of this chalky paste on a deep, angry chin cyst last Tuesday. It’s Thursday, and that thing has deflated like a sad balloon — no bleach stains on my black pillowcase, either.
Benzoyl peroxide is a bully. Sulfur is a quiet assassin. It doesn’t nuke your skin barrier to win; it just makes the environment so hostile that bacteria pack their bags and leave.
This is the generic 10% sulfur ointment — think De La Cruz, about $6 at any drugstore. I bought it because I was sick of BP drying out my cheeks until they flaked like a croissant.
10% Precipitated Sulfur
Dries out the oil *inside* the pore, not the skin on top.
White Clay Base
Stops the sulfur from nuking your whole face — keeps it localized.
Camphor Scent
Smells like a grandma’s medicine cabinet. You’ll get used to it.

It’s not just one thing doing the work — it’s a two-part attack. Sulfur breaks down into hydrogen sulfide, which is toxic to the acne bacteria, while also dissolving the dead skin cells clogging your pore. It’s like a chemical exfoliant and an antibiotic had a baby.
- Sulfur 10%: Kills bacteria + eats dead skin
- Kaolin Clay: Absorbs oil without stripping moisture
- Camphor: Anti-itch + gives that Vicks VapoRub vibe
- Purified Water: The unsung hero, keeps it spreadable

It’s a thick, gritty paste that dries down to a matte, powdery finish. You can’t wear it under makeup — you’ll look like you dipped your chin in flour.
I left it on overnight for two nights. By day three, the cyst was smaller, but the skin around it was a little peely — nothing like the chemical burn BP gives me. It’s slower, but it’s gentler. The smell goes away after 10 minutes, but it’s a weird 10 minutes.

The cyst is 70% smaller. The redness is gone. It didn’t purge the blackheads on my nose, though — this is a spot treatment, not a miracle worker. But for deep, underground pimples that never come to a head? This is the winner.

BP is a hammer. Sulfur is a scalpel. For the deep, hormonal junk, I’m reaching for the smelly stuff every time.
