Forgot my primer at a friend’s. Grabbed this from her bathroom counter in a panic.
My makeup looked better at midnight than it did at 9 AM with my usual $40 one. No joke.
It’s the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Dewy Primer. $8.99. Claims to be a dupe for high-end “skin tints.” I was skeptical.
The Price
Literally less than a fancy oat milk latte.
The Finish
A real glow, not glitter or grease.
The Vibe
Packaging is basic — it’s what’s inside that counts.

It’s not just silicone slick. There’s actual skincare here. The hero is hyaluronic acid for plumping, plus a few other quiet achievers.
- Hyaluronic Acid: pulls moisture to the skin’s surface
- Niacinamide: subtly calms redness over time
- Glycerin: the old-school hydrator that just works
- Mica: for that light-reflecting, not shimmering, effect

The texture is a slick gel-cream. Absorbs in about 15 seconds — leaves a tacky, thirsty canvas. Not sticky, just ready.
After two weeks, I noticed my foundation stopped caking around my nose. The primer seems to create a buffer between my skin and my makeup.

My makeup lasts just as long. The glow is more natural than my high-end one. It doesn’t “blur” pores, though. It just makes skin look healthier.

It’s not magic, but it’s the best $9 I’ve spent on my face in years. Makes high-end primers feel a little silly.
