Slapping on serum then moisturizer sounds right — but you’re probably wasting product. This thing needs bare skin to work.
Morning: pat onto damp face right after cleansing. Let it sit 20 seconds. Then sunscreen. Not moisturizer first — that blocks absorption.
It’s Volition Beauty’s Snow Mushroom Water Serum — $42 for 1 oz. I bought it because snow mushroom supposedly holds 500x its weight in water. That sounded fake enough to test.
Watery-gel texture
Feels like nothing on skin. Dries in 10 seconds flat.
No fragrance
Smells like absolutely nothing. Not even “clean” scent. Just nothing.
Layered formula
Works under makeup without pilling — rare for hydrating serums.

Three actives, no filler fluff. Snow mushroom (trehalose) for moisture binding, polyglutamic acid for plumping, and glycerin for basic hydration. No retinol, no acids — so yes, safe AM and PM.
- Snow Mushroom: holds water longer than hyaluronic acid — less drying in winter
- Polyglutamic Acid: locks moisture to skin surface, not just top layer
- Glycerin: the boring workhorse that actually hydrates
- Trehalose: protects skin proteins from dehydration stress

Straight out the dropper it’s like thin jelly — slides around, no stickiness. Absorbs before you can blink. I accidentally used too much once and it still vanished.
Week 2: my forehead stopped flaking (it’s winter here). But it didn’t fix my dry patches overnight like some claims suggest. Realistic? It’s hydration, not a miracle.

Morning lines on my forehead looked less crepey after 3 weeks. Pores? Same size. But my skin stopped feeling tight after washing — that alone makes it worth keeping.

Keep it in your AM routine. Nighttime I’d rather use something with peptides. But for mornings — this is the hydration step you’ve been skipping.
